How to choose the best Domain Name?
Domain Names have been around since the early days of the internet in the 90's. A Domain Name is a way of putting a computer IP address to a name otherwise we would all have websites like 183.38.38.393 etc which would be incredibly difficult to remember. In the 90's it wasn’t unusual to search for a domain such as webdesign.com and find them available but unfortunately now a days the majority of Domain Names have been exhausted in many ways.
So how do you find a good domain name? First of all you need to keep the domain name as short as possible, anything longer than 10 letters is going to be a drag to type it out. Next you have to make sure the words in the domain name are easily spelt and said over a conversation, for instance if your domain name was webdesignprofessionalsonline.com it would take a lot longer each time you want to give someone your website address. However, using a domain name like webdespro.com is easily spelt and nearly 3 times less in character size. Lastly, remember to always check words that you are using in your domain name because if you use using a trademark name for example "eBay" "Microsoft" or "paypal" then the owners will almost defiantly prosecute or take legal action.
Lastly when choosing a domain name you need to think of which extension to look for. There are many out there the main ones being .co.uk, .com, .net and .org. The basic rule of thumb is that if you are selling only in UK, choose .co.uk. Or if you are selling worldwide then use the domain name .com or .net. If you are an organisation then choose .org. There are also many other domain name extensions available to order
Finally there are some great tools out there which can suggest domain names by entering a word, try them they are really good and perfect for auto brain storming. Click Here
